Multimedia has gone from an optional method of advertisement to a vital step in business outreach.

Even small businesses in remote towns look to the internet to attract customers and spread the word about their services. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science as a Multimedia major and a Media Production minor.

In my road of college, I encountered many upbeat friends who are passionate about the university experience and community participation. These people have inspired me to be passionate about being a loper here at UNK, while at the same time excited about continuing my education.

My upbeat friends may be a little too crazy about their blue and gold pride but are the reason why I am so successful at college.

As a college student, I have been involved throughout the community volunteering at the Fairmont Fair, Brick Street Festival, Gibbon Alumni Banquet, World Theater concessions.

I have also been active at the University of Nebraska - Kearney campus by participating in CAN, being a Loper Leader, and joining a Bible Study Group. I have also applied for a position at the UNK Digital Expressions Media Camp in the summer of 2019 helping high school students focus on video and audio production.

This UNK camp reminds me of my younger memories.

I loved watching documentaries with my dad to see various angles of shots and filming of different locations. As I got older, documentaries became less appealing because they were not adaptive. They seemed dated, static and ill-fit for changes in society.

That’s when I discovered multimedia.

It was in its infancy when I was in middle school, but by the time I graduated high school, it became a staple of business development. I loved the way people in multimedia constantly adjusted to Adobe programs, new video equipment, and new audiences.

I knew this is the career choice for me.
